Arlington Birth Support Services

Are you unsure if you need a labor doula but would be interested in pregnancy and postpartum support? Is this your first pregnancy? Or perhaps you had a difficult or traumatic previous birth experience that would be helpful to process before your next delivery?  Or a history of a Perinatal Mood Disorder? Do you have limited family support or are new to the area?  Or just feel overwhelmed by the amount of information out there! I am excited to offer a la carte pregnancy and postpartum services, including:

1. 90-minute prenatal meeting(s) to provide informational and emotional support, such as:

  • discussion of any questions you may have about pregnancy, birth preparation or the labor process

  • review any questions you may have for your provider at your next prenatal appointment

  • what to expect at the hospital, process for situations like pre-term labor and hospital antenatal "bedrest", inductions & scheduled and non-scheduled c-sections, epidural & other pain management options available if desired, and other support or interventions you may receive at the hospital

  • an overview of some pain management techniques, such as demonstration of counterpoint back pressure and helpful birthing positions (so that you will know how to utilize the hospital-provided birthing and “peanut” balls)

  • discuss any previous birth experiences and any concerns you have or wish to be more informed about for your next delivery and prepared for the post-partum period – information and planning can ease anxiety!

  • discuss/plan ahead for your support partner's role if they will be a part of the birth experience, or any cultural preferences or needs unique to your family structure

  • provide a concise list of pregnancy and birth resources I have gathered from my experience as a mother of three, doula, and through research and contacts - such as birth doulas, lactation consultant, pelvic floor specialists, etc.

2. 90-minute postpartum visit either in the hospital (if schedule and your preference align) or home visit to review the birth story (it is often fun and feels good to review how it went!), answer any questions you have, and discuss any resources or follow up that may be needed

3. Hourly rate prenatal appointment companion if you would like company to your prenatal visits if your support person is unable to attend and/or you would like to make sure you have an understanding of questions to ask to ensure any concerns are covered during the visit

4. Hourly rate labor & phone/text support for when you want to communicate with any questions/concerns about your pregnancy or during your labor, if my schedule allows.

Fees:

  • 90-minute prenatal meeting at your home or preferred location: $150/visit

  • Hourly phone/text support: $50

  • Prenatal visit companion support: $75

  • Postpartum “debrief” home or hospital visit: $150

My passion is to provide comfort and support to women, families and their babies and my goal is to help you feel less alone, less overwhelmed or anxious, and more prepared for whatever birth experience you may have -- they are all unique and there is no "right" way to have your baby.  I will offer non-judgmental, culturally sensitive support, and practical information so that you feel heard, know how to advocate for yourself and your baby, and feel more empowered as you anticipate the big day!
